This week we’re going to be asking the question: Who do you know who?  

Who do you know who can help with this piece of work? Who do you know who can support you with such and such a question, etc.  

Basically, who is in your internal and external support network?  

That can mean everything from who do you know who keeps you sane? For me in the workplace, our incredible HR manager was my go-to person to just talk things through, talk things out, get it out my system, stay sane – and she did the same with me.  

Also, it’s thinking about who do you know who you can go to ask about this latest piece of tax legislation? Or the latest IFRS? And how it impacts this project? Or this business case?  

Or who do you know who you can chat to about best practice for something?  

Or who do you know who has already done this project or implemented this IT system that you can talk to and gain intelligence, gain knowledge?  

This who do you know who question is about encouraging you to think about who is in your network and who you might need to build more relationships with to really excel as a Finance Business Partner.  

The more you have this Connect and Collaborate (FBP Formula®) piece, this internal and external support network… It just enables you to do your job so much better because you’ve got people you can go to about everything really quickly and they can come to you when they need you as well. It’s a mutually beneficial relationship.
