“Challenge”, a word that might feel a bit uncomfortable for you and yet challenging the status quo is a key Finance Business Partner skill.  

In fact, it is one of the 9 C’s of our unique FBP Formula®: ‘Change agent and Challenge the status quo’.

This is an area that finance professionals can feel quite uncomfortable about.  

Challenge isn’t about being a bull in a china shop (I hope that translates to other countries outside of the UK!). 

It is about challenging in a supportive and constructive way.  

It’s about willing to be that little bit unpopular. But remember, you’re challenging for the greater good, you’re aligning with strategic priorities of your organisation & being that ‘Clear strategic thinker’, the 3rd of the 9 C’s of our FBP Formula®.  

So have a think about how you challenge on a daily basis in your FBP role.   

How you can do it as supportively and constructively as possible to ensure that you are that agents of change and can keep things moving to achieve strategic priorities in your organisation.
