I hope you have been galloping forward as a value adding Finance Business Partner this January – being really intentional with your New Year’s Finance Business Partner resolutions, taking imperfect action and practise, practise, practise, practise, practise your craft so that you keep going and keep pushing forwards.  

And today I want to share a time management technique with you.  Actually, this really is about getting stuff done, because we so often start our day with emails and our day gets hijacked.  

We want to start our day with the thing that you’ve been putting off. 

That probably is the thing that takes you forwards as a value adding Finance Business Partner. 

It’s an acronym that I came across somewhere along my career and it’s this ‘B.A.N.J.O.’.  

‘B.A.N.J.O.’ stands for: Bang A Nasty Job Off. 

What that means is start your day with something that you have been putting off.  That nasty job, the thing that actually takes you forwards.  

And what I found is that when I actually do the thing that I’ve been putting off, it usually takes me far less time than I thought it would. I hope you find the same!
